Handwriting - Parent Pack (for use at home)

Handwriting Home Pack

Thank you for supporting your child’s handwriting development with additional practice at home.

Our handwriting scheme is called ‘Kinetic letters’.   We hope that these documents help you to support your child when they are practising them.

The order we are learning the letter families is;

1. Jumper family

2. Abracadabra family

3. Window cleaner family

4. Special Squirter

5. Fisher family

6. Slider family

Some key things to look out for are:

  •  Is your child starting their letter at the correct branch? (Brave monkey is at the top of the line, Scared monkey is halfway between the top of the line and the bottom line).
  • Do their letters touch the bottom line or are they floating?
  • Has your child remembered the ‘flick’ on the letter if it has one?
  • Are they practising their letters 3 horizontally and 3 vertically for quality?
  • Are they using the correct pencil grip?
