We are a UNICEF GOLD Rights Respecting School!
We are very proud to announce that in July 2026 we were awarded the Gold Level for the Rights Respecting Schools Award! At St Luke's School we are committed to ensuring that both the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Global Citizenship underpin our core values and ethos.
Our participation in UNICEF’s Rights Respecting School Award programme seeks to embed the Convention of the Rights of the Child in all aspects of our school life. Our children know that they have the right to be heard in those decisions which affect them. This results in a raised sense of security and self-confidence and so our children are able to develop and apply the skills, language and concepts that allow them to realise their rights.
We are so incredibly proud of our children and what we have achieved as a school community. The children proved themselves to be outstanding ambassadors for children’s rights when our assessors visited in July.
The assessors were blown away by how articulate and passionate our children are to promote children’s rights. We are also very grateful to parents who came into speak to the assessors or sent letters of support.
We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved our Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award. We will be sharing this exciting news with the children in our first assembly of the school year. We will ask the children to get busy brainstorming ideas of how we can mark this amazing achievement with a very special celebration! Thank you for your support every step of the way…we couldn’t have done it without you!
A huge, huge, huge thank you to Mrs Walton for leading us from Silver (Level 1) to Gold. Her hard work and inspiration has ensured that Rights Respecting is a ‘golden thread’ that runs through all aspects of school life as we encourage our children to be the best that they can be. Our team of Rights Respecting School Councillors have been incredible too, they are dedicated and determined to make a difference in everything that we do. We want to thank everyone who has been involved in our Rights Respecting journey and we look forward to inviting them to our special celebration. We’ll keep you updated with our plans!
